Brooks Glycerin 16 vs New Balance 1080v9
I was looking for high quality shoes that had a lot of cushion and room in the toe box. I would be using them primarily for walking around town and jogging on a treadmill. I have flat feel and pronate but didn’t want a support shoe because the arch and rigidity is not comfortable for me. I prefer to use an arch support sock or arch wrap.I narrowed my choices to the New Balance 1080v9 (NB) vs Brooks Glycerin16 (Brooks) and tried them both. While looking at reviews, many people noted the Brooks ran narrow so I purchased that shoe in wide to accommodate the bunions I earned during my stiletto days. I found them to be very similar in fit. I wear 8.5 and they both ran true in length but the NB regular width felt as wide as the Brooks wide. The NB also looked a bit wider when wearing one of each side by side but that may be because of the pastel vs dark color. The NB in light cashmere is a very pretty muted pink color. The Brooks black/pink online photos show it as a medium pink accent but it’s more of a deep fuschia/magenta.There were three fit/feel differences that I noticed. In the NB, my heel slipped up with every step, even with a runners loop. I don’t have heel slip in the Brooks. While the cushioning in stepping down on both heels is exceptional, it seemed where the Brooks was pure cushion, the NB had a bit of a cupping feel when bottoming out. It may be a good thing but I wondered if over long distance and wear that might become uncomfortable. Finally, the Brooks has a one piece sock-like smooth interior that makes wearing it barefoot, or with a toeless sock, just a bit more comfortable. If not for the heel slippage, it would have been tough to decide a clear winner. I may have gone for the NB for looks but ended up with the Brooks for the fit. I don’t usually leave such lengthy reviews but when I searched for a comparison of these two shoes there weren’t any so I thought this might help someone.

Just what I was looking for AND saved a LOT of money purchasing on Amazon
These are a GREAT running shoes AND, after a lot of research and shopping around online, I saved a substantial amount of money purchasing these on Amazon! I really like these running shoes…they were comfortable right out of the box. I have several issues with my feet and knees… high arches, plantar fasciitis, arthritis, aches from old injuries, etc. After having knee surgery a few years ago, I fell out of running which is my go-to exercise; but, I have have recently started to walk/jog on my treadmill again. I find that these Brooks Glycerin running shoes are helping with all of those issues. I do not lace these super tight because I found with my high arches and wide toes that, with all of the cushioning these running shoes have, they were a bit snug and if I was just sitting in them my feet did feel like they were getting tingly… so, if your feet are like mine, just tie them a little looser…

A Comfortable Well-Supported Shoe
I ordered men’s Brooks Glycerin 16 at the recommendation of my foot doctor. Since I routinely track-walk about a mile or so each day, the doctor felt I could benefit from a better walking shoe than the one I was using, which over time was causing soreness on the underside of the feet. Brooks provided the foot support I needed to walk comfortably and without soreness to my feet. It really made a difference which I could feel throughout my body the first time I used them. The doctor said Brooks run a bit small, so I ordered 11.5M instead of 11M. It fit perfectly. They are a bit more expensive and lack the design a good looking tennis shoe, but the benefit of comfort and overall feeling is worth it.

Great shoe, cost too high
Love Brooks glycerin, wearing for years. This version is lighter, less clunkier than previous versions with same great fit. Hate the price tag . Wish I could find a less expensive style but I’m hard on my feet. The glycerin seem to work best but I’m on lookout to change. 150.00 a pair is CRAZY..especially because I go through 4 pairs a year. A head scratcher… Brooks Glycerin are most expensive style…yet always have the ugliest colors. Brooks Ghost have cooler colors/styles and less $$$, just not durable enough for me. Every time I buy a new pair of the glycerin I’m sort of pissed paying the money but my feet are happy. One star off for price tag

Perfect!
Comfortable, fit well, good cushion, good arch support, and flexible. Can’t ask for more. I had to switch from Aasics Gel Nimbus because the new version was aweful! These Brooks exceed the Nimbus. Ran 3 miles first time I wore them and my feet felt great. These are cushioned more than the Ghost which provides just an extra bit of support to the shoe which I needed.

Super comfortable and cushiony shoe
If you like cushiony shoes for sore feet, these are the shoes for you. I’ve run on and off my whole life but over the years as pounds came on, my feet became more sensitive to the pounding which running can be. So, I went to the local running store and asked what shoe they would recommend. They looked at the Hoka’s I was wearing and suggested the Glycerin. Five pairs later, they are my favorite shoes. I just wore a pair to to the Big Island of Hawaii and wore them on lava/coral running paths. My feet feel great. Everyone has unique fit requirements for shoes, but if you’re in the market for a highly cushioned well-made shoe, you owe it to your feet to try these.
